Are you looking for work-from-home jobs as a call center agent in the United States? Take a look at my list of the best companies offering such opportunities.
HOW IT WORKS
The job of a call center representative is to act as a company’s first point of contact. These professionals provide customers with information about the company’s various goods and services through the phone and other communication channels like email and chat.
Most organizations are now recruiting call center workers that work remotely, thanks to technological advancements. A call center agent may work directly for a firm or be hired through a third-party recruitment agency.
A work from-from-home call center representative typically doesn’t need to have a college degree to get hired as most of these companies offer training to their employees before they commence work.
However, in order to excel in this role, you will typically need the following:
- A quiet working environment
- A computer in good working condition and a steady internet connection
- A pair of headphones and a microphone
1. Working Solutions
Working Solutions is a staffing company that only hires persons who live in the United States or Canada for freelance work-at-home opportunities.
The company focuses on customer service and sales, but you won’t be required to perform any telemarketing, i.e., you will not be required to phone individuals to try and sell them something. You’ll concentrate solely on inbound sales.
Most of the jobs offered are short-term contracts, and one of Working Solutions’ best clients is Turbotax.
The following are the steps in their application process:
- An assessment test to see if you have the fundamental abilities required.
- An invitation to their applicant portal, where you must first fill out information concerning your criminal background.
- A device scan is required because you will be using your own computer.
- Complete access to job listings.
Working Solutions will treat you as an independent contractor, which means you’ll get a 1099 form and be liable for your own taxes.
Payment rates vary depending on the type of job listed but typically range from $9 to $30 per hour.
Payments are made on a bi-monthly basis.
Recent Jobs:
- Customer Support Representative
- Hospitality Customer Service Representative
- Educational Sales Consultant
2. LiveOps
LiveOps is another company that connects businesses with remote call center agents. This company is currently hiring from only 35 of the 50 states in the United States (as seen on their website).
Just like with Working Solutions, you will be working as an independent contractor.
Other than a computer, you will also need a landline phone and USB headset in order to work for this company
Steps in their application process are as follows:
- Submit an application
- Allow them to do a background check on you (for which you will pay them $24.99)
- Sign an Independent Contractor agreement
- Do some certification programs (which they offer you for free)
- Complete the device assessment check
LiveOps requires you to work for at least 10 hours a week, and their pay rate is $0.24 to $0.35 per talk minute. However, some clients may pay a basic salary and a commission.
3. Concentrix
Concentrix is a provider of customer care solutions and technology to businesses.
This company hires work-at-home customer service representatives, but unlike other companies, does not hire employees as independent contractors.
When you work at Concentrix, you are hired as a full-time employee, meaning that the company handles your taxes.
This company’s pay rate is not very competitive (around $10 an hour), but they offer pretty long employment contracts. You will also be able to get employment benefits
4. Apple
Another great work-from-home opportunity is to be an at-home advisor for Apple.
In order to apply for this post, you need to understand some Apple product operations and have some IT knowledge. This is because you will be assisting customers with questions, queries, and complaints about Apple products.
Customers may contact in via email, phone, or chat.
If hired, you will be employed directly by Apple and considered an Apple employee, not an independent contractor.
This job offers some pretty great benefits. For starters, you will receive an iMac and headset to use for your work. Apple will also reimburse you for your home internet.
Experience is not required in order to qualify, but an ideal candidate should have a passion for technology and troubleshooting. Also, training will be provided.
Because Apple Support is such a busy department, you may be required to work on weekends and holidays. The number of shifts varies depending on the needs of the company.
Your salary and employee benefits package will be discussed during the recruitment process.
5. U-Haul
U-Haul is a moving and storage equipment rental firm based in Phoenix, Arizona. This company hires full-time and part-time remote moving specialists. You are not an independent contractor in this position.
Training is provided for this position, but it basically entails answering calls and emails from people who want to learn more about U-Haul’s equipment and services. You will, therefore, need a computer and USB headset for this position.
You will be required to be available for work between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm MST.
This company pays $17-$20 per hour, which is pretty good, in my opinion.
6. Sitel
Sitel, based in Miami, Florida, is a contact center company that outsources customer service, sales, and technical support, among other services for large organizations.
As a Sitel virtual associate, you will be assisting the company’s clients with billing queries, account and product questions, troubleshooting, etc. Training will be provided by the company.
The following are the equipment requirements for this position:
- A Windows desktop or laptop (other operating systems are not compatible with Sitel’s platform)
- Windows 10 operating system
- Wired peripherals (a wired mouse, keyboard, etc., wireless devices are not allowed)
- A separate 19” monitor
- Anti-virus software
Before getting the opportunity to apply, you will have to complete an assessment and allow the company to do a background check on you (which is free). You will also have to do a drug test.
Sitel hires from all American states except New York, Washington, and California.
Their beginner salary is $12 per hour.
7. Boldly
Boldly is an award-winning executive assistant firm that hires talented people who are looking for long-term employment where they can make a difference at organizations that matter to them.
You will be hired as a virtual assistant for one to three executives at Boldly for a term of two to three years per executive.
Despite the fact that you will be working from home, you will be a W2 employee rather than an independent contractor.
Equipment requirements include a fast-speed internet connection, an up-to-date operating system, and up-to-date anti-virus software on your computer.
You should possess at least 7 years of experience to be considered for this position. You are also required to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
The pay rate ranges from $22 to $24 per hour.
